Why midi, and why denim

A denim midi skirt is the most useful skirt length in a British wardrobe, and the reason is unglamorous: it is the only one that works with both flat sandals and a heeled boot, which means it covers April through October without needing to be reconsidered.

It is also the piece that pairs with the widest range of tops. A high-waisted straight cut sits cleanly under a cropped top, tucks a cami in without bulk, and takes a plain white shirt without looking like a uniform. If you are buying one skirt, this is the one that earns its place.

Our two denim styles differ in one important way. The straight-cut version is the classic: structured, unfussy, and the safer buy. The asymmetric high-slit version is the going-out one — it reads sharper in the evening and needs a little more confidence in daylight.

The floral option

The third is an asymmetric ruffle-hem floral midi. It is the holiday and garden party answer in this small edit — lighter, softer, and the one that works with the plain black and white tops we carry rather than fighting them.

Worth saying plainly: a printed skirt does the work of an outfit on its own. Keep the top simple and you have something that looks considered with almost no effort.

Sizing

These run XS to XL, with full measurements in centimetres on the size guide. Our pieces are true to size.

Denim has almost no give, so between two sizes take the larger — a denim skirt that is slightly loose sits well on the waist, and one that is slightly tight never becomes comfortable. Size to your waist measurement rather than your usual dress size, because a high-waisted cut sits above the hip and the waist is what decides the fit.

On length: these are cut for around 5'7", so they will sit lower on a petite frame — often closer to the ankle, which many people prefer with a flat shoe.
